Gastronomy

With emphasis on local fresh ingredients, a spicy combination of herbs and spices and the use of olive oil, Cypriot food is Mediterranean, similar to Greek, but it is influenced by the Middle East and Asia Minor.

Both writers and travellers in the past have tasted the flavours of the island. Grains and legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables grown in the sun, high protein fish, lean meat and chicken, olive oil and wine are not only a healthy choice but irresistible temptation.

In the fertile Solea valley with fruit trees, olive groves and gardens with fresh vegetables, the visitor can take an interesting trip, tasting the traditional sweets tou koutaliou (preserved fruit) in Kakopetria, the Klarios trout, as well as other traditional delicacies of the area in one of its beautiful restaurants.
