Agia Varvara (St. Barbara) Church
The church of Agia Varvara, which is older (16th century), is outside the village next to the abandoned village of Agroladou and has the same typology as Agios Mamas. The roof is wooden and in two parts and its plan is rectangular with the altar towards the east and the main church towards the south. The altar, which is separated from the main temple with the iconostasis, is internally circular and externally rectilinear.
The church was repaired by the Department of Antiquities in 2002. The main works involved repairing the wooden roof, removing the newer coatings and restoring the original floor and all the wooden frames.
Guests can combine a visit to the church of Agia Varvara, a short walk from the church of Agios Mamas located in the centre of the village up a hill, which is visible from most of the village. The church, based on its typology, but also on the basis of testimonies, dates back to the 18th century.
