Monuments
In the Solea region, a series of monuments are preserved. They are living proof of the region’s history.
On the one hand the traditional olive mills and watermills, as well as the stone bridges and water fountains are buildings of enormous architectural value that are surrounded most of the time by landscapes of unique beauty. The hydroelectric power station in Kakopetria on the other hand, is a unique phenomenon for the history of electricity on the island.
Finally, the Heroes’ Monuments, created as a sign of admiration, are dedicated to the heroes, who with their sacrifice sealed the National Liberation War of 1955-1959.
