Nature trail, Mnimata ton Piskopon (Monuments of the Archbishops)
The path has been named after the site ‘Mnimata ton Piskopon’, where three Metropolitans of Cyprus were massacred by the Karamanians during the Ottoman domination.
The whole route is located in the Troodos National Forest Park, which is a site of the NATURA 2000 network. It passes through dense clusters of black pine and along the cliff, offering delightful views of the Chromios river, the Solea Valley and of Morfou Bay . The rich vegetation at the beginning of the path consists of black pine. Then, at an altitude of less than 1,400 metres, Trachia (rough) pine trees are found. The path ends at the forest road Platania – Apotheri – Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, where you have a choice of one of three paths leading to: the church of Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, Kakopetria village or Platania campsite, respectively. The route is connected to the nature trail ‘Kampos tou Livadiou’.

Starting point: On the main road of Troodos – Karvounas, 1.5 km before the Troodos Square, 9 km from the Karvounas area, at the ‘Kampos tou Livadiou’ campsite. The starting point is about 300 m along the narrow asphalt road. Following a 1 km course on the trail that was widened to make it easier for wheelchair access. You end up at a crossroad in the northwest direction where you will see and follow a wooden sign: ‘Μνήματα Πισκόπων’ (Mnimata ton Piskopon. The first kilometre of this route is part of the ‘Kampos tou Livadiou’ Nature Trail. The route ends at the dirt road that connects Platania with the church of Agios Nikolas tis Stegis.
