Agios Andronikos & Agia Athanasia Chapel
The picturesque chapel of Agios Andronikos & Agia Athanasia owes its existence to the initiative of the teachers, the staff of the High School and Lyceum of Solea, the Ephorate and the Parents’ Association. Following demarches to the Ministry of Education and Culture, he took part in the fenced area of the forest and made possible the erection of the homonym small church. The purpose of erecting this church is to ecclesiasm the disciples and to raise the saints as school protectors.
On the 30th of January 2001, the day when schools and the church commemorate the memory of the Three Hierarchs, the Most High Metropolitan of Morphou, Neophytos, laid the foundation stone for the erection of the church.
The chapel is located at the geographical boundaries of the village of Evrychou, a picturesque village of the Nicosia province, the rural centre of Solea, located about 50 km southwest of Nicosia and 30 km from Troodos. Evrychou is built on the eastern bank of the Karkotis River, at an average altitude of 440 metres. Small streams flowing down the slopes to the valley, which break up the landscape of the village.
The chapel is located within the courtyard of the village school and its visit is only possible after consultation with the Headmaster of the school.
